I am willing to offer more points to almost any project or assignment. Here are some ways you can earn more points and bring up your grades:
- Complete a MEDIA REVIEW–there is a separate page with instructions.
- Enter a video into a contest—see the QTV website page for contests and festivals (20 points to enter, double credit to win)
- Attend a film festival or video-related event
- Do more than the required for viewing notes
- Produce a “Door Video” project (I have handouts)
DIRECTING—Make-Up Assignment
For each of the first four videos in this class, it is expected that each student serves as a director. If you did not complete this or are not satisfied with your directing grade, you may complete the following project.
Each task can earn you up to 10 points. Be sure to list your sources (MLA style) and type or write neatly.
1. What is the job of a Director?
Research online or in the library to answer this question. Read and report on your findings in 2-3 paragraphs.
2. Meet a well-known director
Find 2 or more sources that tell you about a particular director. Try to find a magazine, newspaper or online video interview that was done with them. Read and report on your findings in 2-3 paragraphs.
3. Learn from the Director
Find a movie directed by your chosen director that has a directors commentary on the DVD. Watch at least 30 minutes of the movie and take notes on what you learn from listening to the director.
Check back here often—I may add more ideas
