WATCH A MOVIE,  WRITE A PAPER—GET 30 POINTS!!!

What could be easier and more fun!!  Media reviews are reflective pieces of writing based on viewing and analyzing television shows or films.  You need to watch the movie or show within 48 hours of writing your paper, and must provide some proof.  For the paper, I expect to see a specific format, with the 4 sections below clearly labeled and completed.

This assignment can be done for extra credit, earning up to 30 points that can be applied to any past classwork assignment grades that you are not happy with. You may complete as many reviews as you like.

RECAP

Write a 1-2 paragraph summary of what you watched.  Be sure to include details about characters or people involved, settings and locations and plot or storylines.

REVIEW

Write 1-2 paragraphs discussing the production quality both on the performance and technical sides.  For this part, I expect to see use of vocabulary and concepts that have been covered this semester in class.  What did you think about the selected media?  Share your opinion and provide specific likes and dislikes, or comments about the production.  You may choose to talk about the acting, the writing, camera work, sound, or other technical aspects of the production.  You can even rate it!! (be sure to explain what your rating means)  Don’t forget to support your statements with specific details.

REACT

Write one paragraph that summarizes the message and your reaction to it. What do you think was the message the creator of the media was trying to convey?  What is your reaction to it?  How did watching it make you feel?  This is your chance to be a critical consumer of the media—again support your statements with specifics!!
