Youth Leaders of Promise (YLOP) 10th Grade PSA

The Youth Leaders of Promise program is a value-based, experiential leadership and citizenship development program. The program aims to successfully give you, the young people in our community, the necessary tools to discover your values, vision, voice and virtues. By teaching leadership and citizenship to public high school students, YLOP is poised, through a successful track record and vibrant partnerships, to impact you journey to becoming informed, active citizens. The concepts and lessons learned at YLOP will not only shape lives and attitudes during the program, but are life long lessons that will greatly enhance your future participation in civic and community life. Students will receive anywhere from 10 to 30 Service Learning hours (depending on there project) towards there 60 hours required for graduation.

Elective for John Stanford Public Service Academy.This course satisfies an Occupational Education graduation requirement. Offered 1st and 2nd semester.

Family Relations

Family Relations is a course that prepares students for the real world. Daily living decisions and situations are simulated in the areas of stress management, career planning, dating, mate selection, marriage, family dynamics, financial planning, family planning and marital problems such as alcoholism and domestic violence. In this class we choose a career, a spouse, plan and have a wedding, and have a baby, all in a few short months, whew!!

This course satisfies an Occupational Education credit or Health credit for graduation.

Course offered 1st and 2nd semester.

Grades: 11th-12th
